The definitive final fantasy 14 resource

Platform

Final Fantasy 14 will be released on the Playstation 3 and the Windows PC platforms. There are talks of development for XBox 360 but the development team have said that they have yet to reach a deal with Microsoft – though talks are taking place.

One very good planned feature is the ability to seamlessly switch platforms. The servers that run FF14 will be platform independent meaning that you could purchase FF14 on both your PS3 and PC and switch between them, being able to pick up where you left off.

A more realistic application for this is being able to log into your account at the house of a friend who has a different platform to you. While a relatively small feature, it should improve usability a great deal for the players of FF14.

PC System Requirements

Square Enix have stated that whilst in a few years an average PC will be able to play FF14, initially it will require high computer specifications as it will utilise cutting edge technology to deliver the immense graphics we see in the trailer as well as processing all of the in-game characters in what will be a heavily populated world.

The game will use the latest version of Direct X (DX10.1) as well as be most likely mainly tested on Windows Vista and Windows 7. We think that Windows XP support will be there, but only if they allow the game to be played on the DX9 platform.
