With the alpha testing presumably taking place now (see http://www.final-fan...esting-update/) I am of the opinion that 2009 will see public beta testing - hopefully worldwide.

Are you looking forward to the beta testing and do you think you will try to participate in this phase?

I've applied for beta tests before and have yet to get into one.

I would love if they do open beta or something. I would try to be one of the first to try it out. I'm a huge Final Fantasy freak. >

That would be great - I'd definitely get on that. Square Enix have stressed that FFXIV will have a longer and more in depth beta testing period than FFXI did so we can hope.

I read somewhere that they will be recruiting beta testers between August 15th and August 30th. I registered to all the SE sites I could find to increase my chances of being chosen for beta -- which I assume will be closed. A good bit of beta information can be found here. It has some good sites to register for as well as some information on what they've said about the beta so far.

The more I think about, the more I decide I wouldnt' actually want to take part in the beta. I'd rather play the game when all errors have been ironed out and it is becoming fully populated with players upon launch. I'm sure nobody will object, since that's one less person to get in the way of you all recieving beta invites!

For some reason this has not been made a big deal of, but producer Tanaka mentioned that Square Enix will indeed be having an open beta!

Hey guys do you think attributes will be the same as Final Fantasy 11 with races are all they all even this time

You mean how Taru's are favoured towards Magic while Galka ATK/DEF etc? I hope it will stay the same to give the different races a unique idenity. Having them all the same would feel pretty bland.

I surely would like to have a chance at testing xiv, i didnt get to test xi so im hoping they will do an open beta and allow us to sample it.

I am having trouble signing up for the beta. Where I try to log in it keeps popping back to log in screen. I have checked my username and pw at the SE site and it works fine. But for some reason, it won't let me log in to apply for the beta. Anybody know what's going on with that? thx

I applied for the Beta, but its been about 2 weeks now and I have yet to get an Email from SE. I wonder if I have been denied or if it just takes a while to process.
