Current Known Issues in Final Fantasy 14

2nd Oct 2010

If an item name contains a "+ [number]" at the end (e.g. "+1," "+2," etc.), players are not able to equip the specified item through a macro command.

Currently, equipping items through macro commands works in the following manner:

Example 1) If you only possess the item "Dagger," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger" on your character.
Example 2) If you only possess the item "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will equip the item "Dagger +1" on your character.
Example 3) If you possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1," triggering the macro command "/equip main Dagger" will randomly choose and equip the item "Dagger" or "Dagger +1" on your character.
Example 4) If you possess the item "Dagger +1" (or possess the items "Dagger" and "Dagger +1"), triggering the macro command "/equip main "Dagger +1" will not equip either of the items.

*If you input "Dagger +1" without the quotation marks, the system will recognize it as "Dagger."

Other known issues:
I run a 2.8GHZ w/4g mem – game runs so slow, it’s ridiculous. Only game whose benchmark has me looking like a Vic-20. When you first install game, get ready for a day of horrid p2p downloading of a 400m patch (or go to a torrent site and get it in 5 min). And, to log on to play a jumpy, laggy, poorly optimized game just to see some amazing graphics, be ready to be told you have to queue up behind 250 others to get onto the lowest pop server (there’s only six available to me, and they’re world wide, not regional).
The game has some interesting gameplay features and wonderful graphics, but it took me hours upon hours just to get it up, only to find my new laptop isn’t good enough (although it meets all of the ‘recommended’ settings), there’s an inane login and registration process (don’t just register the game and play, also sign away your life to a character registration – that’s right, pay per character in addition to monthly fee and the $75 you plunked down for the collector’s disc).
Did I mention it randomly crashes so you can requeue?!
Completely disappointed. Just enough peek to make WoW seem archaic, but so poorly launched and executed that the box is going in the closet and I’m off to hunt rares in Northrend with my Druid…
