Square Enix Cuts Expected Sales by $100M

4th Nov 2010

Square Enix lowered their earnings forecast yesterday for the first part of the fiscal year which ended September 30, 2010. The reduction done was at 10.5% to $846 million (68 billion). This is a lot lower than the same period last year which was at 90.6 billion.

Another thing SE lowered was their net income expectations for the two quarters to $21 million (1.7 billion). This is a reduction of around 29% from the original forecast.

The reason for the decline according to Square Enix is due to the "challenging operation environment" i.e new games experience "slow growth". However, thanks to major titles such as Final Fantasy XIII and more released in March of the previous fiscal year Square Enix operation income remains high.

Soon SE will release its actual second fiscal quarter results.
